Students receive reward for halfway completing the Book Campaign
Students Receive Reward for Reaching Halfway on the 25 Book Campaign  -  Good Job!!

On March 4th, 2010 five out of seven qualifying students went on a field trip to Nickel Bowl as a reward for meeting the halfway point in the 25 Book Campaign.  The 25 Book Campaign is a reading for enjoyment program.  During the first 20 minutes of English class, students at Riddle Education Center read for enjoyment.  Their reading is documented and tracked.  The goal is for each student to read 25 books (150 pages=1 book) which is the equivalent of one million words.  In achieving this goal, a student can increase their reading fluency by one or more years.

Students Rewarded Field Trip for Book Campaign

Currently, the average books read by each student at Riddle Education Center is 8.19 books. There will be another, Bigger! field trip near the end of the year for those students who have completed the 25 Book Campaign.

After bowling at Nickel Bowl in Tri-Cities, the students picked up lunch at Subway and spent lunchtime at a local park.  All students were very appreciative of the opportunity to enjoy their reward for all of their hard-work.
